New Believer’s Guide
Welcome to the
family of God:
Choosing to follow Jesus is the most important decision you will ever make. This guide will help you understand the basics of your new faith and provide practical steps to grow in your relationship with Christ.
Understand your salvation
- As a Believer, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9)
- You have been saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- Your sins were forgiven when you believe. You become a child of God and you received eternal life (John 3:16)
- It is not about being perfect, you are on a journey of transformation as God works in you (Philippians 1:6)
Build a relationship with God - Faith is not about religion; it is about a relationship with God. Here is how to connect with God daily
- Pray: Talk to God about everything. Praise Him, confess your sins, thank Him and ask God for His guidance.
- Read the Bible that is how God speaks to us through His Word. Start with the Gospel of John to learn more about Jesus.
- Worship God by spending time praising Him through songs, reflection or quiet gratitude.
Join a Community of Believers
- Find and attend a Bible believing church where you can learn and grow with other Christians (Hebrew 10:25)
- Join a small Group and build relationships and find support in a small group or bible study.
- Serve others by looking for ways to use your gifts to serve your church and community (1 Peter 4:10)
Learn to trust and obey God as you grow in faith God will guide you
- Obey God’s Word by following Jesus and aligning your life with His teachings (John 14:23)
- Rely on the Holy Spirit and He will help you understand scripture and help you make wise decisions and resist temptation (Galatians 5:22-23)
Share your faith by sharing your testimony of how Jesus changed your life. This can inspire other people.
- Let your actions reflect Christ’s love (Matt 5:16)
- Share the good news of Jesus with other people when the opportunity arises (Mark 16:15)
Expect challenges because being a Christian does not mean life will be easy but God promise to be with you
- Trust God to guide you through challenges (Romans 8:28)
- Stay rooted in God’s word to stand firm against sin (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Keep growing in your faith by having
- Daily devotions and spending time with God every day through prayer and bible reading
- Memorize scripture it would strengthen your faith (Psalm 119:11)
- Do not hesitate to seek guidance from trusted believers by asking questions.
